Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy and my burden is light."
When you are carrying a load in your spirit, soul, and mind that is almost too much to bear- please take it to the Lord. The definition of a
Yoke- a device for joining together a pair of draft animals, especially oxen, usually consisting of a crosspiece with two bow shaped pieces, each enclosing the head of an animal. The two oxen in the picture above are bound by a yoke.
God wants us to be joined with him, so that he can teach us, and we can learn from him by copying his movement. I don't know about you, but throughout grade school, I was always glad when I got good (nice) teachers. Something about an instructor who has humility, and knows how to bring out the best in you with a gentle and gracious spirit pushes you to do your best. God is that type of leader. His yoke is easy. He will be that "nice" teacher who is not harsh with you. His burden is light. Once we identify God's way of doing things, and put them into practice, we will come to understand that we do not have to be moved by burdens.
